BIOGRAPHY

David E. Huber, FLMI - Director, National Fraternal Congress of America

David E. Huber is a lifelong member of Catholic Order of Foresters (COF). Huber was appointed High Chief Ranger in January 2004, succeeding the deceased Robert Ciesla. He subsequently was elected to that position at the Society’s quadrennial national convention in August 2004. A High Court/Board of Directors member from 1984 to 1996, he also served his local court, St. Mary 293, as chief ranger, vice chief ranger and secretary. In addition, he held the position of treasurer of the Northwest Indiana Association of Courts. Huber is also is a member of the Presidents’ Section of the National Fraternal Congress of America.

A graduate of Xavier University, Cincinnati, with a BSBA in management, Huber was president and general manager of Huber’s Department Store in Crown Point from 1977 to 1996. He accepted a position at COF corporate headquarters in 1996 and was elected high secretary-treasurer at the society’s 2000 quadrennial convention. In that position, he was responsible for the society’s day-to-day operations as well as for developing both business and fraternal strategies. He holds a Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation from the international insurance and financial services industry Life Office Management Association (LOMA). In addition, he has earned Series 6 and 63 licenses with the National Association of Securities Dealers.

Huber was appointed to complete a year of an unexpired term on the board of the National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA) in September 2004. He then was elected to a three-year term on the NFCA Board in September 2005. He also is a member of the NFCA Presidents Section.

Active in his community, Huber is a past Troop 45 committee member with the Calumet Council Boy Scouts of America and the National Youth Sports Coaches Association and also serves on the Lake Courthouse Foundation.

Huber and his wife, Debra, reside in Crown Point, Indiana, and are the parents of three children, David, Joseph, and Kathleen.
