Past President Dies

The National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA) is very sad to report that Marcia D. Heywood, Director of Marketing, Communications and Promotions for Woodmen Financial Services, Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Woodmen of the World/Omaha), died Friday, March 10, 2006, in a one-car, rollover accident. She was alone in the vehicle.
Marcia joined Woodmen of the World/Omaha Woodmen Life Insurance Society as Assistant Communications Manager in March 1992.
Marcia most recently served as Immediate Past President of the NFCA Communications Section, having served on the section since 1999. She was past president and past publicity chairman of the Nebraska Fraternal Congress. She served on several NFCA committees, including the Annual Meeting, Public Relations and Fraternal Publications Committees. She also served on the Nebraska/Western Iowa JOIN HANDS DAY Steering Committee.
Marcia also was active in her community, serving as a member of the Omaha Chapter of the American Advertising Federation, past board member of the Omaha Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators, past member of the Omaha Public School District’s Familyness Advisory Board and member of Woodmen of the World Lodges 16 and 1, located in Omaha, in addition to Past President of Lodge 1.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Heafey-Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler, 7805 West Center Road, Omaha, Nebraska, from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. Vigil service will be Wednesday evening at 7:15 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 20500 West Maple Road, Elkhorn, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 16, at 11:00 a.m., St. Patrick Catholic Church.
