Message from the President and CEO

Head to the Hill with the NFCA

The NFCA Annual Meeting is the most important networking opportunity of the year for fraternal executives. It is the one time when you and your peers from societies across the U.S. can gather to share ideas that can help your organization grow and prosper. I hope you will join the nearly 400 leaders of America’s most dynamic societies for the 122nd NFCA Annual Meeting, September 4-6, in Washington, D.C.

This year’s meeting comes just two months before one of the most important elections in American history. The results of that election will have a dramatic impact on the future of fraternals in this nation. And we’ve put together a program that will provide you uncommon insight into how the elections will be decided and how they will affect your society.

Charlie Cook, one of the nation’s most respected political commentators, will be on hand to share his views on November’s possible winners and losers. The Honorable David M. Walker will enlighten you on the economic challenges that await the next president – and the next generation of Americans. These are two keynote presentations you won’t want to miss.

We’ve also put together an outstanding array of workshops that address issues important to your society’s fraternal and insurance operations. For instance, topics include board governance, quantifying fraternal outcomes, and recruiting youth involvement. Plus, you’ll be a potential “witness” at a special mock hearing on the tax-exemption issue, which I’m sure will be both informative as well as entertaining.

Finally, you’ll be able to take our message to public policymakers as we “head to the Hill” on Thursday afternoon. While most members of Congress will be at the Republican National Convention or campaigning back in the district, we will be meeting with staff members and leaving behind important information on NFCA and the valuable contributions fraternals make to individual communities and American society.

So please join me, the NFCA staff, and your fellow fraternalists at the NFCA Annual Meeting. Everything you need to plan your trip can be found on the NFCA Web site by clicking here.

As always, I welcome your comments and questions on this and other issues facing the NFCA and the fraternal system.  Please click on the link to e-mail me or call me at 630.522.6322, ext. 117.

Best regards,
