NFCA MEMBERSHIP STANDARDS

The National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA) established its Membership Standards Program in September 1993 for the purpose of assessing and communicating the integrity and uniqueness of fraternal benefit societies.

The program requires members and prospective members to provide the NFCA with information regarding their NAIC Risk-Based Capital (RBC) results, organizational structure and fraternal outreach activities. This information is evaluated by NFCA staff using prescribed membership standards dealing with a common bond among members, an active lodge system, a representative form of government, sound financial management and substantial, tangible fraternal and benevolent activities.

NFCA staff recommendations then are reviewed by the NFCA Membership Committee and sent to the Board of Directors, who ultimately determine individual member compliance with Program requirements.
