NFCA Actuaries Section Opens Nominations for 2008 Jacobson-Rugland Award
The 16th annual Jacobson-Rugland Award, established by Luther College to recognize an outstanding fraternal actuary, is now seeking nominations for the 2008 award. The award will be presented during the 122nd NFCA Annual Meeting, in Washington, D.C. Nominations for this award program are due by Friday, July 11.
Individuals eligible must be or have been:

An FSA, FCIA, MAAA, MCA, or previously a member of the former Fraternal Actuarial Association; |
 |
An employee of or consultant to a fraternal benefit society; and |
 |
A notable contributor to the profession and fraternal benefit industry. |
A selection committee comprised of the three NFCA Actuaries Section officers and two most recent past presidents will select a winner from nominations received by July 11, 2008. Nominations should be in writing and describe why an individual should be selected.
The Jacobson-Rugland Award was established in 1993 by Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, to honor the late Reuben Jacobson and the late Walter Rugland, Sr. Mr. Jacobson was associated with Lutheran Brotherhood, a fraternal benefit society based in Minneapolis, and Mr. Rugland was with Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL), a fraternal benefit society based in Appleton, Wis. AAL and LB merged in 2002 to form Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
