2010 Fraternal FIC of the Year Nominations

The Fraternal FIC of the Year Award is a joint award program of the Fraternal Field Managers Association (FFMA), the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counselors (NAFIC) and the National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA).  In 2005, the NFCA’s Board of Directors suggested that an award be established to acknowledge the fraternal contributions fraternal insurance counsellors, or FICs, make to their local communities, recognizing that to many individuals, a fraternal benefit society’s local fraternal insurance counselor is the “face of fraternalism.” The FFMA and the NAFIC endorsed the idea and offered their full support.

In 2007, the NAFIC, FFMA and the NFCA launched the Fraternal FIC of the Year Award. The award winner is chosen from among recipients of the FIC of the Year awards, which are presented to a field representative from each participating society. Many entries, recognizing the valuable contributions of FICs to their societies, their lodges and their communities, were received. The first winner of this new honor, Edward J. Bosch, Jr., of Catholic Order of Foresters, was announced at the NAFIC 57th Annual Convention in Houston, Texas, in May, and was presented with the award at the 121st NFCA Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in September. Click here for details. The second year’s winner, Randy Kolarik, Western Fratenal Life Association, was recognized at the 122nd NFCA Annual Meeting, September 4-6, in Washington, D.C.

The 2010 winner will receive transportation for two to the 124th NFCA Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, September, including room, meals and NFCA Annual Meeting registrations.

Please note that there is an enhanced section on the Fraternal FIC of the Year form for the inclusion of fraternal activities.  It is especially important to complete this section thoroughly, as it will be the major factor in determining the recipient of the NFCA Fraternal FIC Award.  Please note that you must participate in the FFMA FIC of the Year award program in order to submit a nomination to the NFCA Fraternal FIC.
