The NFCA Proudly Recognizes "Fraternalists-in-Action"
Fraternal MVP—Week of April 7, 2008
The National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA) is proud to recognize the following individual as a Fraternal MVP (Most Valuable Participant) for the week of April 7, 2008. Fraternal MVPs are “Fraternalists-in-Action” who volunteer their time, energy and compassion to strengthen their communities through participation in local lodge activities and other charitable endeavors.
Floyd Frerich
Catholic Life Insurance
Branch #114
San Angelo, Texas
Fifty years ago, Floyd Frerich began a career in sales with Catholic Life Insurance. Ten years later, he was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the newly reorganized San Angelo Branch. Since then, Frerich has touched many lives.
In 1991, he and his wife, Dottie, founded the West Texas Rehab Silver Spur Ball. This event has raised more than $335,000 and has enabled West Texas Rehab to continue to help area residents, who are challenged by disabilities and/or disorders.
A chance meeting in 1995 led to a lasting relationship with the Carmelite Nuns. Since their first meeting, Floyd has helped the sisters by building a barn, laying 900 feet of water pipe and erecting a pump house. He and his crew of volunteers also have built fences, hauled soil, planted trees and constructed a garage.
In his spare time, he’s donated eight gallons of blood to the local blood bank. Floyd and Dottie served as parish festival chairpersons for nearly 20 years. They also are members of the Western Dance Club and the Polka Dance Club.
Floyd has six daughters and two sons, 26 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The NFCA salutes Fraternalists-in-Action for their dedication, kindness and generosity. They embody the heart of fraternalism through their volunteer efforts and commitment to their communities.
