The NFCA Proudly Recognizes "Fraternalists-in-Action"

Fraternal MVP—Week of March 31, 2008

 

The National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA) is proud to recognize the following individual as a Fraternal MVP (Most Valuable Participant) for the week of March 31, 2008. Fraternal MVPs are “Fraternalists-in-Action” who volunteer their time, energy and compassion to strengthen their communities through participation in local lodge activities and other charitable endeavors.

 

Susan Henschel

National Mutual Benefit

Branch #630

Howards Grove, Wisconsin

Susan has been a member of the board of National Mutual Benefit (NMB) Branch #630 for approximately 10 years.  She currently serves as trustee, publicity and membership chair.  She served six years as secretary and treasurer, with the remaining four years as a trustee.

 

Susan been instrumental in beginning new projects within NMB Branch #630, such as the following:

·         Supplies for military troops

·         Aluminum recycling project

·         A pizza fundraiser where profits are used toward the annual branch scholarship fund

·         Annual school supply give-away to 10 local elementary schools and/or shelters

·         Baby blankets for all newborn members

·         Recognition of members who are 85 years and older by sending out birthday cards, and during the holiday season, sending out cards and delivering gifts to these members.

 

Susan has worked closely with other branch members to accomplish several successful egg roll fundraisers and the branch currently is in the process of completing its first pizza sale fundraiser, in which they will be making the pizzas that will be sold.

 

Susan participates as a Student Council Co-Advisor at James Madison Elementary School, volunteers with Bethany Reformed Church, of which she is a member, and volunteers with The Salvation Army as a bell ringer during the holiday season.

 

Susan is on the planning board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Walk for a Cure.  She has served in various capacities within the Sheboygan community as past PTO Vice-President at Pigeon River Elementary School.  She also has served as a Girl Scout Leader in the Manitou Girl Scout Council.

 

Susan has been employed by the Sheboygan Area School District for the last 15 years as head secretary at James Madison Elementary School and also as the Summer School Planning Secretary for the district.

 

Susan is married to Dennis and has a daughter, Lisa (24), a stepson, Joe (24), and a stepdaughter, Stephanie (21).

 

The NFCA salutes Fraternalists-in-Action for their dedication, kindness and generosity. They embody the heart of fraternalism through their volunteer efforts and commitment to their communities.
